At PPC Solar, one of our dreams is coming true. After 33 years of not having or simply renting a space we have purchased a building and are renovating it to our needs. This is a momentous occasion, as our team has risen to the occasion and worked extremely diligently to make our new space a reality.

When Paradise Power Company (PPC) was started in 1979, it was operated out of the founder’s home for several years. In the 90’s, Paradise Power Company was taken over by Daniel Weinman and moved into a small rented warehouse studio (in which he lived as well) until 2005. In 2005, PPC moved (around the corner) onto Reed Street – a 2 story space, with a small office, a yard for machinery and equipment, and a small warehouse storage space. The small office space was divided and used for a showroom and workspace for 6 employees.

The new space was formerly a heavy equipment rental store. Working with Henry Architects and Taos Mountain Builders, the entire building has been gutted, and the new interior will have a modern feel and open-air quality. We will incorporate solar electric and thermal systems, use sustainable materials and efficient lighting. The building sits on 1.5 acres of land, which will be utilized as heavy equipment and storage yard.  (And maybe we can fit a bike pump track on it, as well!)

This will not only be our workplace, it will be a place that our community can gather to talk solar. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for us in this new building, as we move forward into a future that will be filled with renewable energy for all.  Our plans are to relocate to the new facility at the end of this month!  Stay tuned for our Grand Opening Gala!
